Black Drawing Salve

Activated charcoal chemically binds other substances to its surface and can absorb thousands of times its own weight. Activated charcoal help cure bee stings, poison ivy rashes, snake bites, spider bites (including highly poisoning bites from the Brown Recluse or Black Widow), and other poisoning bites. 

 

Bentonite clay produces an electric charge when hydrated.  It has a negative charge which attracts molecules with a positive charge and bonds with them.  With most toxins being positively charged, Bentonite clay helps to force toxins out of the body faster than normal.  Bentonite clay can cause the splinter to be pulled out closer to the surface of the skin and in some cases can pull it out altogether. Similar to its use for splinters, bentonite clay can remove the toxins injected the bee more quickly and also pull out the stinger. 

 

Kaolin clay has gentle disinfectant properties and can stimulate circulation which can help speed healing. 

 

Dandelion root is a gentle but effective blood cleanser and is useful for a number of chronic skin conditions such as boils and eczema. 

 

Violet leaf can be used for cooling, soothing, and reducing inflamed skin. 

 

Calendula oil is an anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory that helps to heal wounds, rashes, burns, abrasions, eczema, acne and insect bites. 

 

Lavender's anti-fungal properties help to reduce inflammation, aiding in the healing of eczema and psoriasis; reducing redness and irritation. 

 

Castor oil offers anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, it is high in Vitamin E and beneficial fatty acids. 

 

Avocado oil is one of the best oils for skin; containing high amounts of vitamin E and many other nutrients, avocado oil helps to nourish and moisturize the skin, promote collagen production which helps with new, healthy skin growth and accelerates the healing process. 

 

Candelilla wax is a vegan alternative to beeswax derived from a small shrub native to Mexico. It has a buttery texture that helps protect and hydrate parched and scaly skin. It is rich in nutrients and is easily absorbed into the skin. We use only sustainably sourced candelilla wax in our salves.

As with any natural or herbal product, the key is consistency and patience. People are used to quick fixes and that approach is just not the case when trying to make the changes necessary for a healthier lifestyle.

 

People who use herbs as symptom-relieving remedies will often be disappointed as most herbs don't target specific biochemical reactions to create rapid changes. Instead, herbs work with the body in extremely complex ways to bring about balance in the body.
