Pink-Eye Remedy: Chamomile Warm/Cold Compress

Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, symptoms are often resolved without treatment within two weeks.


Here is one of our favorite home remedies to help ease symptoms.


Ingredients

1 tbsp of chamomile flowers 8oz just-boiled distilled water ¼ tsp sea salt (optional)


Tools:

Cotton pads or clean cotton cloth

Small glass jar (for storage)


Instructions

  1. Pour boiled water over one tablespoon of the chamomile. Cover and steep for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Strain.

  3. Add ¼ teaspoon of sea salt. (optional)

  4. Allow the liquid to cool to a comfortable temperature.

  5. Chill half of the solution in the refrigerator.

  6. While half of the solution is chilling, pour the other half over the eye.

  7. Remove chilled solution out of the fridge. Prepare cloth by soaking it in the chilled solution.

  8. Apply the soaked cloth over closed eyes and allow this to rest on the eyes for 5 minutes before removing.

  9. Repeat with a fresh cloth 3-4 times a day.

  10. You can refrigerate and reheat as needed for 24 hours before making a new batch.
